Names and Nuggets

In response to the post below:

It seems as if Pixar's creativity can never fail to impress us. Not only do the characters of Ratatouille have "appetizing" names, their meanings seem to relate to rather delectable morsels as well. So far, it appears that almost every known character in the film is named after a food or drink:

Remy - meaning "champaigne" or "from Rheims" or "rower"
Chef Auguste Gusteau - according to Wikipedia, the chef's name is derived from "gusto", an Italian word meaning "appetite"
Linguini - a type of pasta
"Rollie" - if you take away the "ie", "Rollie" becomes "Roll", as in a "roll of bread".*

For those of you who have not yet been informed, "Linguini" is proposedly a newly mentioned character who will appear in Ratatouille. According to the resource in the post below, he is a garbage boy.

*Credit goes to JV for the suggestion.

Similarities - Remy and "Remi"

According to Wikipedia.net, the upcoming Pixar film, Ratatouille, bears some rather small resemblances to a dated French tale known as Sans Famille. The article can be found via this link:

Sans Famille

Some similarites between these two stories include:

- The title character in Ratatouille -- Remy -- shares his name with the main character of Sans Famille, who's name is also Remi. The only difference is that both names are spelled differently.

- The theme of Ratatouille is similar to that of the plot-line of the two-part novel, Sans Famille, which depicts a young boy who strives to find his place in the world of 19th century France.

Is it possible that Pixar derived their story of Ratatouille from this former tale of French poverty?

Ratatouille Video Game Confirmation

According to Computer and Video Games.com, a video game based on Pixar's upcoming film, Ratatouille, will be released by THQ sometime next year.

States the article:

All we know about the game is that it will put you in the tiny rodent shoes of Remy as he relives various key moments from the film due to land next summer. THQ told us, "...players will instantly recognize the storyline, characters and key locations of Ratatouille, as they engage in a series of unique mini-games, cooking challenges and head-to-head multiplayer. Ratatouille will allow players to create culinary masterpieces, evade detection from dangerous and often hungry enemies, and brave the perils of the dinner-rush in this senses-shattering journey to fulfil Remy's life-long dream of becoming a great chef".

The game will be available for eleven (11) different formats. It is predicted that it will hit store shelves around the same time that its film predecessor, Ratatouille, is released. This puts the game's release sometime around June of 2007.

This is truely some exciting news -- I am certain that we will see and hear more about Ratatouille in the future.
